Think back on your most memorable road trip.
I was a little girl. Yet, I remember all that happened before and afterwards. It was the most memorable trip I’ve ever had.
The most exciting trip also. It was during a time Black Americans couldn’t use the same bathroom as s White Americans. Black Americans couldn’t drink from the same water fountain as White people.
There were 9 family members riding in a green 4 door Ford.
My oldest brother was the only driver. When we stopped at a gas station to get gas, my brother had to pee. Instead of going to the bathroom marked Black, my brother opened the door with Whites on it and quietly entered it. Several of us watched until our brother safely ran back to the car.
It was really funny to all of us when our brother was safely back in the car and we were on the road again to Florida.
